In 2005, the Dalai Lama told Himalaya Centre proprietress, Reka Gawa “Don’t forget that you’re Tibetan. Keep the culture alive.”

She had long dreamed of opening a shop, and in 2007, inspired by his words, she did so. The shop is now a busy
vegetarian cafe, therapy centre and events centre with a small community of regular visitors.

The Himalaya Centre is also home to GREEN TARA SCOTLAND, a charity which aims to empower disadvantaged people,
of all races and cultures living in north India, through education and sustainable living.

GREEN TARA APPEAL

Please send us your unwanted solar calculators - they would be so appreciated by our village schoolkids in India. They have a teacher, but no resources, and calculators would be just perfect for them. Thanks
